Privacy policy

What information do we collect and why?

The information you provide during therapy is voluntary. However, if you choose not to share certain information, it may be difficult to move forward with your treatment.

I collect your personal data to provide the best possible therapy experience. This includes storing your contact details securely, such as on therapists' phones.

How do we use your information?

I will never share your personal information outside of my database unless:

  • There is a serious risk to your safety or the safety of others.

  • You and I agree to share information with someone specific, such as a family member or your doctor.

I will always discuss any need to break confidentiality with you first, unless there is no time due to a safety concern.

How long do we keep your information?

Your personal data is stored securely and confidentially according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  • Therapists' notes and other confidential information are kept for 6 months after your final session and then securely destroyed.

  • Formal records, like reports or therapy letters, are stored for 7 years after your final session and then securely destroyed.

  • The only exception is your consent form, which will be kept indefinitely.

Your rights regarding your information

  • You have the right to request that your personal data is deleted at any time. However, this may limit your ability to make a legal claim against your therapist in the future.

  • You cannot record therapy sessions without your therapist's permission.

  • You can withdraw your consent to therapy at any time. However, this may mean that therapy cannot continue.

  • If you have any concerns about how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
